From July 1, 2019 to July 26, 2019, the HITSZ International Summer camp, held by the Office of International Affairs · Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, received 37 students from the Netherlands, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong and Macao regions of China. This summer camp included two credit courses and other activities like traditional culture experience, cooperative enterprise visit and city exploration, etc. During each course and activity, members of HSICA and volunteers accompanied them and provided them with various help in study and life.

The core of this summer camp wad to introduce Chinese culture as well as the two courses which were full of Shenzhen characteristic: Contemporary China and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Each course had two instructors, who were from the main campus and Shenzhen campus respectively. In the tight course arrangement, students not only needed to choose different subjects to interview and investigate the local culture, but also deeply explored the business model and development direction of innovative enterprises such as Huawei, DJI and Mobike.

In order to better understand the innovation and vitality of Shenzhen, the summer camp arranged a comprehensive visit of cooperative enterprises, including China Merchants Group, Mindray, Nanshan Zhiyuan and so on. By combining the curriculum theory of innovation and entrepreneurship with the practice of visiting high-tech enterprises, students from all over the world could see that Shenzhen has gone global with its innovation and manufacturing power.

In addition to the courses, we arranged activities such as tea ceremony, calligraphy and traditional sports, so that the campers could have a deeper understanding and experience of traditional Chinese culture.

The campers were in a foreign country, facing different challenges and experiencing different wonderful things. Our club members and volunteers spent a colorful month with them, from which we also harvested a lot. It is for sure that this time of getting along with each other will eventually become a beautiful and unforgettable memory, cherished in everyone's heart.
